It has made it’s mark in its almost 6 years of history, with its IP brand-School Quiz League-Pratibha Ki Khoj, fast emerging as India’s Fastest growing State-Centric Quiz Program for School students.
EduAce believes that quizzing is the most fun way of learning anything new, by avoiding a rhetoric monologue classroom lecture.
How does EduAce achieve this-they have a focused program titled Q-LAB : India’s first Quizzing & GK program for School students. Which is a fusion of assessment/mentoring and online learning.
Once the school signs-up with them, they go through a screening process of students who will eventually be part of the program. Once the baseline assessment is done they initiate their training sessions which are on-campus sessions, and parallel to this the Online subscription is initiated on which the students hone their skills.
EduAce’s cumulative reach as of mid-2018 is in around 3000 schools and over 5,00,000 engaged students, who have played their Quiz programs.

And why did Gaurava use Quizzing as his start-up idea :
“Given I was an avid quizzer and had some demonstrated work through projects done while I was professional working for a telecom major. And, only aspect where I was super good was quizzing. I knew Quizzing will be centrifugal to my venture…how and when was to be taken care of…and when finally I bagged an international award in 2012 at Asian Communications Award, Singapore for my work around community engagement through QUIZZING. I knew this is it and more importantly I got that intrinsic confident that its now or never….and that made me take a plunge.”
Gaurava on Sunny Narang as Mentor :
“For me calling someone my mentor is truly a very high benchmark stuff. Given I have lived my life on my own terms where I have learned many things from others and self taught most of the stuff….by taking up the path less traveled. However, when I first met Sunny Paaji in the early 2014, his friendly and unadulterated advise instantly made me connect with him.
Though we couldn’t complete the transaction for which I had originally approached Sunny paaji for at that point in time….but I instantly knew I was walking out richer by having a mentor in him willing to advise me which was straight from the heart.
So if I technically see anyone advising me or mentoring me, it will be completely fair to say that Sunny Paaji has been my first mentor whom I fall back to practical and doable piece of advise till date and hope to continue that way which to me is a rarity these days.
And, lastly this is something I told him during our last meeting. That i would love to live the kind of chilled out life and demeanor he wears”

The small-town hero
Looking at the waning popularity of Derek O’Brien’s Bournvita Quiz Competition (BQC), Gaurava thought it to be the perfect time to go to market. In the first year of starting up, EduAce held the competition in 16 Tier II cities of India, under its product name School Quiz League (SQL) – Pratibha ki khoj.
Today, three editions down, the competition is held in 25 Tier II cities across 2500 schools, including Ittawa, Faizabad, Rudrapur, Haldwani, Jhansi, Allahabad and Varanasi.
On why quizzing is important for a student, Gaurava says,
CBSE and ICSE schools have General Knowledge (GK) as an essential subject only till Class VIII. But it is most required after Class XII, when students go on to write competitive examinations for colleges.
This led EduAce to set the foundation for its holistic learning solutions for students between Class VI to XII.
General Knowledge and Quizzing Aptitude Test (G-QAT) is an offering for school students, who are segregated them on the level of difficulty, from junior (Class VI to IX) to senior sections (Class X to XII). It comprises of an aptitude assessment test, while providing individual learning modules to students.

Met Gaurava Yadav, 32, the Founder-CEO of School Quiz League a couple of days ago. A passionate Quiz-master who grew up in Jhansi and always wanted to build a huge system of quizzes in small towns of the Hindi-belt, which were regular mostly in the metros in his school days.
He set up a social network for CIO’s in his last start-up in Delhi, and then went to set up base in Lucknow to go to tier-2 towns in UP and MP and hold quiz competitions, connecting to almost 750 schools, English Medium as of now across 16 cities last year. Gaurava’s dream is to include 5 more States this year. This means an addition of at least 25 more cities and 2000 more schools. SQL is working towards building India’s 1st Knowledge Network for schools. The event is only open to School students studying in 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Standard.
Imagine when he goes Hindi, there will be tens of thousands of schools ! The scale of India is mind-numbing !
By Knowledge Network, Gaurava wants to create a community of schools in the heartland who have many issues with creating interesting engagements for their students, give them exposure to visiting successful and creative professionals, getting teachers to know what are the best-practices, of student career counselling. Mostly services and events that happen in few elite schools in the metros.
I tell you that there is no dearth of dreamers and doers in Tier-2 towns of India today. They can see what are the needs and are building real-on-the-ground networks along with virtual platform. Gaurava says that the internet is not so great via the PC, and as mobile and smart-phones take over, one needs the mobile and the direct engagement. So local logistics across hundreds of small towns is the next frontier, for good quality educational training and event services.
In my line of work, you see the pains, the passions, the failures, the trajectories of new generation of entrepreneurs. And I have realised that if you haven’t done your first start-up by 35 it will be very difficult after that.
Then as they say here, you are ‘settled’.
